Enthusiastic boaters and hikers find this charming little village on the Kaag Lakes a veritable treat, and its proximity to Amsterdam makes it an ideal stopover. Restaurant Tante Kee with its French and International cuisine is renowned and is just the place if you want to enjoy a well prepared meal in a luxurious and cosy ambience.

Looking at this elegant and serene restaurant today it is hard to guess that its beginnings were pretty humble. 'Aunt Kee' was a poor widow who had started a pannenkoekencafe, a small café selling pancakes, to support her children. Over a period of years, this endeavour expanded and has slowly evolved into the present scenario where dining is considered a gourmet experience in the midst of a tranquil landscape.

Chef Raymond Reb and his team conspire to produce some delightful creations starting with sashimi of tuna with wakame salad, cream of avocado, piccalilli ice and sweet and sour prawns with cucumber and crispy sesame. The different flavours and textures offset each other in perfect balance, while the salad of lobster, crisp sweetbreads, scallops and candied foie gras is another example of harmony of tastes.

Fish is represented well on the menu especially in the main courses and if your tastes lie in that direction you should try the lemon sole with strained cauliflower, beurre noisette and meat jus, or perhaps the white halibut with tomato sauce, vegetable spaghetti and potato mousseline for a satisfying meal. The Anjou pigeon, with candied rose, or fried duck liver, polenta and apricot sauce are other appealing alternatives and the calf with crisp, fried ravioli, sweetbreads, kidneys, red wine jus and Meaux mustard is a sure  incitement to meat lovers.

No good meal is really complete without an indulgence in desserts and at Tante Kee, the parfait of honey and vanilla with raspberry compote and sorbet, topped with espuma, foam of white chocolate and lime is a treat indeed. Those with a hankering for strawberries could try a concoction of the berries in orange sorbet and yoghurt, while the selection of cheeses with brioche are other alternatives that are equally satisfying. Wines are predominantly French and a glass for every course works out just fine in terms of compatibility with both the food and your wallet.

Restaurant Tante Kee offers various attractive packages for the business minded who want to hold their meetings and conferences in the beautiful environs.
